Licensing a comic

So, you decided not to simply steal a comic for your own purposes.

It would have been so easy too… You fool. You beautiful fool.

Well—sincerely—thank you. Now let’s do business.

How does licensing a comic work?

Find a comic you want to use, click the licensing button, and add the license type (more about that below) to the cart. Then buy it. Assuming your payment goes through, consider yourself officially licensed to use that comic according to the terms of the license you bought.

What are these license terms?

Depends on the license type. Let’s go through ‘em.

Internal presentation · This covers the one-time use of the licensed comic in a presentation or report for an audience within the company.

Company blog / social post · This covers the one-time use of the licensed comic in a publicly available blog or social media post.

Email newsletter distribution · This covers the one-time use of the licensed comic in an email distribution up to 150,000 subscribers.

Website · This covers the ongoing use of the licensed comic on a single website for up to 5 years.

What am I getting besides a license?

You drive a hard bargain. I’ll throw in the high resolution versions of the comic and its bonus panel. That’s right, I’ve been holding back on resolution for the masses. But not you.

You’ll receive an email upon purchase with these files along with the license terms to reread and become one with.

What does a license not get me?

Friendship. That will blossom naturally between us, let’s not sully it with money.

Furthermore, a license does not entitle you to alter the comic in any way (other than its size) or resell it. I keep all copyrights. Attribution must remain (that little ‘Datch Haven’ black speech bubble in the bottom right corner of the last panel).

What if I want to use the comic another way than the available terms?

Tattoo? Community mural? Live action film? What do you have in mind, moneybags? Let’s talk.
